Woman of substance
By Kgomotso J Kgopa, South Africa:
A soul on high heels!
Woman of substance
Substance that cannot be seen
But greatly felt
Your presence and power is undeniable
Formidable. Admirable.
You make these words understatements
You dance to the brink of each new dawn
As the floors pulsate and ripple to your rhythm
Propelling men forward!
It has been said of you “behind every successful man is a woman”
Well, precisely my words!
You do not possess physical strength
But your words, woman of excellence
Build a Nation
Yes, a gentle soul, yet a force of nature
Consider all nature's phenomenon that bear feminine names and wonder why
A few of the facets you project forth
Your love, kindness and the one that I hate – Tough Love
Are perfectly timed as per season
No wonder the Earth is referred to as “She”
You bear your own weight and everyone else's without complaint
Then blaze the runway with a catwalk as you stride
Through spotlights of challenge and reality!
Ah! What costs some men an arm and two toes,
You do so effortlessly!
Take your place in society and never question your abilities as you do it
Able you are!
Do not drown yourself in guilt,
Woman of reverence
While men might argue that you
Brought the fall of the human race;
Eh! Where was he to protect you from the evil one in gardens of Eden?
Shake your body and wipe off the 'make-up' of shame
That you've been made-up with from all times!
Arise, Mosadi!
